MedPlants4Vet Expands Its Network through Collaboration with COST Action ENVIRANT
August 5, 2025
MedPlants4Vet expands its network by collaborating with the COST Action ENVIRANT. Together, we aim to explore plant-based alternatives for improving animal health in livestock systems while reducing the environmental impact of veterinary pharmaceuticals, particularly anthelmintics. This marks an innovative step toward more sustainable veterinary practices and enhanced ecosystem protection.
MedPlants4Vet has recently strengthened its collaborations by establishing a partnership with the COST Action ENVIRANT (CA23154). This initiative focuses on assessing the environmental footprint of anthelmintic drugs used in livestock and an in-depth look at research and the use of herbal alternatives to anthelmintics. By integrating plant-based veterinary approaches, the partnership supports innovation in parasite control, farming practices, and environmental stewardship.
Herbal veterinary medicinal products are playing an essential role in reducing reliance on chemical anthelmintics, promoting both animal welfare and environmental sustainability. As plant-based strategies gain ground, they are seen as effective, eco-friendly alternatives that align with the principles of sustainable agriculture and One Health.
