SPARC Final Event: Building the Future of Sustainable Worm Control in Grazing Ruminants
The SPARC project (Sustainable Parasite Control in Grazing Ruminants) will conclude with a final event entitled “Building the Future of Sustainable Worm Control in Grazing Ruminants”, taking place on 4 December 2026 in Brussels, Belgium.
The event will bring together researchers, veterinarians, livestock farmers, industry representatives and policymakers to discuss the future of sustainable parasite control in grazing ruminants and explore how scientific knowledge can be translated into practical solutions for livestock farming.
The programme will address key challenges in parasite control, including anthelmintic resistance, sustainable worm management strategies and policy recommendations developed through the SPARC project. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about the European Commission’s livestock strategy and hear first-hand experiences from SPARC Ambassadors working to promote sustainable parasite control on farms.
The morning session will feature presentations by leading experts, a discussion on European Communities of Practice and an interactive panel bringing together representatives from research, veterinary practice, livestock farming and industry. The afternoon will focus on knowledge exchange and networking through the LiHRA Market: Sustainable Control Practices, where SPARC partners and sponsors will showcase their initiatives and approaches to sustainable parasite management.
By connecting scientific research with practical experience and policy development, the event aims to strengthen collaboration across Europe and support the adoption of effective, evidence-based approaches to parasite control, helping preserve the efficacy of anthelmintic treatments while maintaining animal health and sustainable livestock production.
